Welcome to our Learning Commons!
The Learning Commons began with a mindset: technology and information literacy skills cannot be separated from the everyday job of learning. Technology is a tool that helps students find information AND a tool that helps students share what they learn with others. No longer can we think of technology as a separate 'class' that students attend once each week; nor can library and information literacy skills be tucked into a 30 minute block. The Learning Commons is a student-centered place where our entire school community can be challenged to grow as learners.
Our school Library Learning Commons is an integral part of the MVVS educational community. The goal of the Library Learning Commons is to introduce and reinforce research skills, expose students to different genres of literature, and help grow a love of reading in all students. The library media specialist and classroom teachers work together on projects. This integrated approach creates a curriculum that complements and enriches what students learn in their classrooms.
